WSET’S LEVEL 2 AWARD IN WINES IS A BEGINNER - TO INTERMEDIATE - LEVEL QUALIFICATION EXPLORING WINES, SUITABLE FOR INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND WINE ENTHUSIASTS.

This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN


- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)


- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir & Syrah/Shiraz


- The style and quality of wines:

        - made from 22 regionally important grape varieties

        - produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world


- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:

          - Sparkling wines

          - Fortified wines


- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality


- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine


- Principles of food and wine pairing

CLASS FORMAT
This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time:

- 16 hours of delivery time with a WSET course provider (In-Person)

- 11 hours of personal study & revision

- A 1-hour closed-book examination comprising 50 multiple-choice questions

FAQ

Who is the educator? 

Galiena is currently working with Pierrick Muller.


The trainers are wine professionals with excellent educational experience. All trainers are accredited by the WSET.

Does Galiena eligible for SSG grant from the government? 

We currently do not subsidise any government aids at the moment.

What are the entry requirements? 

Level 1: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Level 2: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Level 3: It is recommended that you hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or can demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge. 

How do I get to Galiena?

Collection of Study Packs

By collection at our office.


Level 1 course materials are provided to students on the first day of the course.


For Level 2 and 3, it is highly recommended to collect your study material in advance before the course commencement for pre-reading. If you would like to do so, full payment is required before collection can be arranged. Otherwise, study packs will be given on the first day of the course.

If I miss a class, can I make it up?

No, we do not offer make-up classes.

Can I postpone my exam?

You have the possibility to postpone your exam free of charge up to 3 weeks before the date. After this time, a fee is charged by the WSET for postponing the exam.

When are we getting our result? 

Galiena will inform each participant of their results via email once we have received the gradelist from WSET Global. Your certificates and badge will arrive at a later date, and you will be advised of the collection details once we have received them. 


Gradelist is issued based on the following timeline:

Level 1: 10 weeks from the assessment date

Level 2: 10 weeks from the assessment date

Level 3: 12 weeks from the assessment date

How do I receive my certificate and pin? 

Students will receive a digital certificate by email. Physical pins can be collected from our office. If candidates wish to have their pins mailed via registered post, a $20 SGD admin and postage fee will apply.

What if I failed the exam? 

Don’t worry, you can retake your exam with a re-sit fee.
